One of the ways through which HIV enters Pinsk are trips to Russia, reported Pinsk channel “Varyag”. Due to the difficult economic situation in the region, Pinsk citizens go to work across the eastern border of Belarus. There they act carelessly and as a result get infected with HIV.

According to experts, before 2009, the main source of infection in Pinsk were drug addicts through reuse of syringes. The age of detected HIV carriers almost never exceed 29 years. Now in 70% of cases the virus is transmitted sexually and, the age of identified carriers is increasingly more than 35-40 years.

World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year.
