Deputy Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn has come up with the proposal to set up the so-called hi-tech university in Belarus.
The country needs such university to ensure the training of a new generation of specialists, he said during Monday’s report to President Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
“The global economy acquires an absolutely new look under the influence of IT technologies. There are new branches generating colossal revenues without traditional resources and mechanisms. And the human capital plays a crucial role in it. Belarus has always been famous for its people, and our education has always had a good reputation in the post-Soviet space. However, in modern conditions we need brand-new approaches which will help us preserve and develop this status. Our education system in general meets the personnel demand. But we need a new generation of specialists for successful digital transformation and creation of the new economy. We do not train such specialists right now,” the presidential press service quotes Turchyn.
According to him, establishing the ‘high tech university’ may contribute to preventing the talented youth from leaving Belarus.
The would-be educational institution is expected to launch the admission processnext year. Among its founders there will be the High Technology Park (HTP), the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian Stata University of Informatics and Radioelectronics as well as HTP resident companies. About 180 persons may become its students in 2020.
