High demand: Belarus airline increases number of flights to Ukraine’s resort Odessa

The Belarusian airline Belavia has announced its plans to increase the frequency of its services to Ukraine’s Odessa to 12 times a week.

As Belarusians are leery of spending their holidays in occupied Crimea, the tickets are in great demand. Moreover, our eastern neighbours also opt for flying the Belarusian airline because direct flights between Ukraine and Russia were suspended.

“Starting from 16 July 2016 Belavia introduces two additional regular flights from Minsk to Odessa International Airport. Thus, we will operate 12 flights a week on the route Minsk-Odessa-Minsk,” the airline’s press service said.

According to Belavia, additional flights will be served by Boeing 737-300 aircraft on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Extra flights will depart Minsk at 00.20, landing in Odessa at 1.40, and return at 3.30, arriving back to Minsk at 5.00.

On June 17, Belavia added three frequencies to a daily flight to Odessa from Minsk on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but it turns out not to be enough.

“It is no doubt that the holiday season dictates its rules, and we are happy to increase the number of frequencies to a wonderful city of Odessa. We are glad that this Ukrainian destination is so popular with both transit passengers and those going to the Black Sea,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes Belavia Director General Anatol Husarau.

The total number of flights Belavia operates to Ukrainian cities will go up to 54 a week.
