According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as of 19:00 more than 400 people were detained in Minsk. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported that 14 people were detained during the protest actions in Vitsebsk.

“All of them used flags and other symbols that were not registered in the prescribed manner, and posters with various content, including offensive ones,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained the detention of peaceful demonstrators.

Some of the participants in the March of Heroes reached the house of the chairm of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna. To detain the demonstrators and stop the movement of the people along the Drazdy residential area (where many Belarusian ministers and top officials live), riot police used flash grenades.

Protests against the official results of the presidential elections have continued in Belarus since August 9. During this time, over 10 thousand people were detained throughout the country. Several thousand detainees appealed to the Investigative Committee with statements about the illegal actions of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Investigative Committee has not opened a single criminal case on citizens’ appeals.
