Heating costs for 'empty' apartments double

The Council of Ministers has raised the cost of utility services for apartments with no registered dwellers.

The Government has approved new tariffs for communal services, ensuring full compensation of the costs for their provision. Information about the new prices can be found in the document of the Council of Ministers, published at the National Legal Internet Portal.

The document contains Annex 3, which establishes the so-called 100-percent tariffs on “communal” services. They are the tariffs used by the owners of apartments in which no one is registered.

Since January 1, the price of heating and hot water supply will be 854,751 rubles – 1.8 times more than the full cost of heating until now.

In an interview with “Belsat” in December, a member of the permanent parliamentary commission on budget and finance, Valery Baradzenya said that the total cost of the increased housing services in 2016 will not exceed $5 in rubles.

The increase of the communal services’  costs along with public transportation costs were the conditions, among other things, for allocation of the IMF loan to Belarus.
