Head coach of Belarusian FC wants football camp in occupied Crimea

Vyachaslau Lyauchuk, a new manager of the Belarusian football club Dnepr Mogilev, is calling on the leadership to stage a training camp in Crimea.

“A training camp abroad is not a luxurious thing, but a sheer necessity. We are not pushing for flying to Turkey, but one can find a good option of having a football camp in a country with a milder climate, for example in Crimea,” he said in a recent interview.

The USA and the EU imposed sanctions on Crimea after it was annexed by Russia in 2014. The Belarusian authorities have not recognized Crimea part of Russia as well.

UEFA and FIFA bar Crimean clubs from participating in international tournaments, both individually and under the auspices of the Russian Football Union, which, in fact, deprives them of the professional status.
