Government limits number of guests in 'per day' apartments

Russians prefer apartments and ignore the capital’s hotels. Neighbors of dwellers lending apartments “per day” have called the police 7,000 times complaining about noisy guests, minsknews.by reports.

“Something needs to be done about it,” said the deputy Alena Beresnevaya at a joint meeting of both chambers of the Belarusian parliament.

Deputy Prime Minister Anatol Kalinin noted that despite the constant availability of rooms in Minsk hotels, Russian businessmen choose apartments lent “per day”.

“Just yesterday (on 28 May), the government decided to limit the number of guests who will be able to stay in an apartment lent for short term. Thus, a person needs not less than 6 square meters of living space. The decision will cut off a certain category of landlords. For 2016 we plan to development a new Housing Code, which will include the proposals regarding this issue. We need to create a different, a fundamentally new scheme for administrative prosecution of landlords,” said Deputy Prime Minister Anatol Kalinin.
