Google, Netflix, and Amazon to pay tax in Belarus

Google, Amazon, and Netflix have registered to pay value added tax on electronic services (the so-called tax on Google) in Belarus, Belarus Minister of Taxes and Levies Syarhey Nalivayka reports.

Applications for the registration of foreign companies supplying electronic services were first registered after January 1, 2018. Now the list has 6 organizations, including Google, Amazon, Netflix, Linkedin, said Minister Nalivayka. This list will soon include Uber and other companies. The Minister recalled that the amendments to the Tax Code of Belarus, which provide for the taxation of foreign electronic services, were prepared back in 2016, but came into force on January 1st, 2018.

“We see that the big companies reacted to the innovation responsibly. Although they still have time to get registered before the end of the quarter, they are doing it right now, in advance,” said Syarhey Nalivayka.

The Government expects to receive about $ 4 million from “tax on Google” in 2018.
