Gold and foreign exchange reserves of Belarus down by $438 mln in February

According to preliminary estimates, as of March 1, 2020, international reserve assets of Belarus amounted to $8.8 billion, the National Bank reports.

According to the National Bank of Belarus, gold and foreign exchange reserves decreased by $438.2 million (4.7%) in February 2020 after a decline of $150.4 million (1.6%) in January. The reason for the decrease in gold reserves was the payment of foreign and domestic loans, as well as the sale of foreign currency by the National Bank at the auction of the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange.

National Bank plans for gold and foreign currency reserves to amount to at least $7.3 billion in January 2021.
