‘Full-scale artillery drills’: Luhansk separatists show off weapons, vehicles

Pro-Russian militants from the so-called Luhansk republic have held military maneuvers, which they called full-scale artillery drills.

According to the separatists, the war game was of defensive nature.

On Thursday, about 300 militants learned how to repel the imaginary enemy’s attack. Dozens of combat vehicles – armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery and mortars — were involved in the exercises, they say.

All goals set have been achieved by artillery and infantry, commander Vladimir Bobtsov said.

In June, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic staged full-scale military exercises for the first time ever.

In 2017, the two unrecognised formations organised joint military drills.

Since the proclamation of Donetsk and Luhansk ‘republics’, about 10,000 people have been killed in eastern Ukraine. The Minsk Accords that were signed three years ago, failed to stop the conflict: Ukraine and the separatists accuse each other of ceasefire violations every other day.
