Belarus Free Theatre receives prestigious UK award

The company won the British National Theatre Offie 2017 Award for “Best Ensemble”.

Theater director Nicolai Khalezin wrote about this in his Facebook.

The prize is remarkable in that it is the first time in the history of the awards for the 7 years of its existence, when the prize is given to the company representing not only the UK but also Belarus.

“We are the only theater company, whose main base is located outside Great Britain, and which has been given this prize. Our performance is the only one not in English. Apparently, this is the nomination that most accurately reflects the essence of our theater,” wrote Nicolai Khalezin.
