Police pressure Belsat TV contributor Kastus Zhukouski

Kastus Zhukouski received a subpoena from the police, the KGB and the prosecutor’s office already on March 24. But for health reasons and due to working schedule — he was to cover the Freedom Day in Homiel on March 24 and 25 — he did not show up at the police.

There were attempts to detain him at the protest, to take him into the car “to talk”. He was told he was not allowed to shoot video. But the people stood up for him and did not let the law enforcement officers in plain clothes to detain him. The wife of Kastus, Alena Zhukouskaia quickly took home the footage and it was broadcast.

According to Kastus, the whole week-end the police besieged their house.

On Monday, March 27th, at the Central police department of Homiel, Colonel Shukel personally drew 4 protocols on Zhukouski at once for the illegal production of media (Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code). Now Kastus is waiting for a subpoena.

In 2015-2016, Zhukouski was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility under Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code (illegal production of media).
