According to preliminary estimates, international reserve assets of Belarus amounted to $9 billion 393.5 million in equivalent as of January 1, 2020, the National Bank reports.
The main financial institution of Belarus reports that international reserve assets increased by $2.2 billion (31.2%) in 2019.
The main sources of increase in gold and foreign currency reserves last year were the purchase of foreign currency by the National Bank at the bidding of the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange, the receipt of taxes, duties and other payments in foreign currency by the budget, as well as the issuance of bonds denominated in foreign currency by the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank.
