Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Uladzimir Makey has commented on the results of the visit of U.S. President’s National Security Advisor John Bolton to Minsk.

“I think that the main result of this visit is that the parties have tried to hear each other and agreed that such a dialogue should be continued in the future,” the Minister is quoted on the official page of the Foreign Ministry on Facebook.

Uladzimir Makey urged not to look for any conspiracy behind the very fact of John Bolton’s visit.

“No one called on anyone to join or leave anybody or anything. There were sincere discussions about the situation in our region, the situation in the world, discussions on security issues, global trade and economic cooperation, the development of bilateral relations,” said the Foreign Minister.

According to him, the sides discussed the issue of bilateral relations “quite substantively and concretely,” including uncomfortable issues, issues that cause some concern in the U.S.

“We have agreed to continue the dialogue, not to move away from pressing issues, but to try to find a solution to those issues that lie on the surface,” said the Foreign Minister.

In particular, the Belarusian authorities have expressed a desire for “equal trade, economic, political, humanitarian and other cooperation and interaction”.
