Flares and hidden faces: Belarus Embassy reports ‘anti-Belarusian’ rally in Kyiv

A group of unidentified people held a thuggish anti-Belarusian rally in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Kyiv on September 23, the website of the Embassy states.

Interestingly, the Ukrainian media outlets have not reported the situation; there is not any information about it in the public domain either.

“Taking into account that the participants of the rally hid their faces, behaved in an arrogant and aggressive manner and used flares, the Belarusian Embassy to Ukraine has voiced protest to the Ukrainian side and demanded to investigate into the case and ensure the Belarusian diplomatic mission’s security,” the statement reads.

At the moment, Belsat is trying to receive any particulars of of the incident near the Belarusian Embassy in Kyiv.

(UPD) The rally was staged by representatives of the Ukrainian anarchist movement who wanted to express solidarity with the imprisoned Belarusian anarchists.

“On September 23, a group of Kyiv anarchists held a picket near the Belarusian embassy in solidarity with the arrested anarchists. The activists unfurled the banner “Death To The Dictator!” and henged an effigy of Lukashenka on the fence of the embassy. At the moment, the Belarusian regime is keeping anarchists Dzmitry Paliyenka and Kiril Alyakseyeu in prison,” the anarchist website revdia.org says.
