European Broadcasting Union quashes rumors about Moscow’s hosting Eurovision-2017
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has refuted media reports that the competition in 2017 may be held in Moscow instead of Kyiv.
The organizers of the 2017 Eurovision International Song Contest have no such plans, Deutsche Welle said on Sunday on its Russia-language website page with reference to EBU.
Earlier, the German newspaper Bild reported citing its sources in the organizing committee that the Eurovision finals in 2017 might be held in Moscow due to financial problems of the Ukrainian side.
The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest was held in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. Russia’s Sergei Lazarev with the song You Are The Only One was the odds-on favourite of the show. But it was his tough competitor, Ukrainian singer Jamala, who became the winner with the song 1944 dedicated to the tragedy of Crimean Tatars deported by Stalinists.
