Enigmatic attack UAV during Belarus-Russia war game in Vitsebsk

Attentive viewers of military TV show ‘Arsenal’ could have noticed an unmanned aerial vehicle in the footage provided by Belarusian VoenTV.

Although such model had never demonstrated to the public before, authors of the show failed to comment on its occurrence on TV.

Judging by the screenshot of the video, the drone was carrying a pair of rocket launchers and flamethrowers which are difficult to identify.

In early March, the State Military and Industrial Committee reported that the 558th aircraft repair plant would present a ‘wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles’ at the LIMA-2017 exhibition in Malaysia. But the Belarusian unmanned quadcopter Shershen (Hornet) is not like the machine in the video.

The footage showed a fragment of the Belarusian-Russian joint military exercise held in Vitsebsk region on April 1-6. Over 1,000 servicemen and 200 military vehicles were involved. In the course of the scheduled war game, Russia’s reinforced paratrooper company and Belarus’s air assault brigade practiced blocking a populated locality, which had been captured by ‘militants’.

“It was not reported to which country the drone belonged to. However, it should be noted that UAV units were not mentioned in the list of Russian units involved in the war game,” Belarusian military bloggers stress.
