Energy Ministry says scheduled tests underway at NPP


In its Telegram channel, the Ministry of Energy reported that a test was carried out at the first power unit of the BelNPP – steam was dropped to test systems and equipment. “The need for additional correction of the operation of the steam sound absorbers covers has been identified.”

Earlier, the ecohome-ngo.ny reported about an accident at the backup cooling system of the first unit of the Belarusian NPP.

“At the end of hydrotesting at the NPP, a major emergency occurred. The tanker of the emergency cooling system of the first reactor was damaged due to the unopened valve, when pumping out the liquid at the end of the tests,” the portal writes, publishing a statement by the Belarusian Anti-Nuclear Company, which cooperates on the safety issues of the Belarusian NPP.

The Ministry of Energy has neither denied not confirmed this information. “The tests will continue in accordance with the planned schedule. Now the first power unit is connected to the grid,” the message says.
