Elbrus: Belarusian mountaineers not in touch

Belarusian climbers, who intended to conquer Elbrus, have stopped being in touch, the Emergency Department of Russia’s Kabardino-Balkaria reports.

Two climbers have not contacted the department since 17 January. Eight rescuers have already started search and rescue operations on the eastern side of Mount Elbrus.

The group of mountaineers was not registered.

Elbrus, which is located close to the Russian-Georgian border. is the highest mountain in Europe (5,642 m).
