Early voting begins in Belarus

On November 12, early voting on the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly begins in Belarus. Voters can vote early at polling stations until November 16.

Early voting is available to citizens who are unable to visit polling stations on the election day. At the same time, no confirmation of the reasons for the impossibility to come to the polling station on the election day is required. Polling stations for early voting are open from 12 to 16 November from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm.

At the same time, the CEC reports that early voting is not conducted at polling stations in health retreats, preventive clinics, rest homes, and hospitals.

According to independent observers and human rights activists, early voting provides opportunities for falsification of election results. Because of this, during each election campaign, human rights activists note cases of pressure on military personnel, students and civil servants forced to vote early.

Elections to the House of Representatives will be held on November 17.
