Donetsk region: Fraud for benefit of unnamed candidate reported

The police is running a check-up over allegedly vote rigging in Manhush district (Donetsk region), the media outlet Ukrainska Pravda reports.

Local election commission members filed a complaint against the violation of the electoral process to a police station in Manhush. According to them, the information they submitted to the Central Election Commission does not coincide with the data published on the CEC official website.

In particular, the number of votes in favour of one of the candidates has been increased by 9 times, they claim. The name of the candidate has not been made public.

The complaint has been added to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations. The police’s tasks are to define at what stage inconsistencies emerged and identify alleged perpetrators.

Presidential candidates Volodymyr Zelenskiy and incumbent President Petro Poroshenko have received 30.22% and 15.94% of votes cast on March 31, respectively, according to Ukraine’s Central Election Commission (CEC) with 99.5% of voting protocols processed as of April, 2. The two candidates will square off in the second round on April, 21.
