Paratroopers of Belarus and Russia to hold joint military exercises

Throughout the month, Belarusian and Russian paratroopers will be taking part in two joint tactical wargames with live firing and landing operations, Russia’s Defense Ministry reports.

“The maneuvers will be carried out in the territory of the two countries. In total, over 1,200 people and 100 units of military and special equipment will be involved,” the ministry says in a press release.

During the exercises, the paratroopers will also work on the practical issues of protection of the Union state borders and fighting against illegal armed groups.

Compared to that of the previous year, in 2016 the number of joint exercises of Russian paratroopers and Belarusian special operations forces has tripled and reached 38, the Russian side states.
