Deportation looming? Mikheil Saakashvili detained in downtown Kyiv

Mikheil Saakashvili, the leader of the New Forces Party in Ukraine and ex-president of Georgia, has been brutally detained in the Ukrainian capital on Monday.

“Masked men [in uniform – belsat.eu] with the inscription State Border have just detained Mikheil Saakashvili in the Suluguni restaurant at Muzeiny Lane,” political strategist Sergei Haidai said.

The visitors managed to film a 8-second video of the arrest. The video shows the persons in camo ordering one man to lie down on the floor and strong-arming another.

Saakashvili’s associate, David Sakvarelidze, confirmed the politician’s detention.

Mikhail Saakashvili is being taken to Boryspil Airport, he may be deported to Poland today, news agency UNIAN reports with reference to his associates.

On February 5, Kyiv’s Economic Court of Appeals denied the ex-president of Georgia his refugee status, which might result in his being extradited.
