Dean who refused to punish students for protests resigns in Homiel


Former dean of Homiel State Technical University named after Sukhoi Uladzimir Lukianenka has resigned. He lost his position after he refused to impose disciplinary sanctions on students who had participated in protests.

Uladzimir Lukianenka told TUT.by that he left not just the university, but the educational system.

Students say that he has not been at work since December 28:

“He waited for the exam session, didn’t want to leave us, and when we passed all the exams, he resigned”.

PhD in Physics and Mathematics, associate professor Uladzimir Lukianenka worked at the Sukhoi State Technical University for almost 10 years. Six of those years he was deputy dean of the faculty of automated and information systems. Then he became dean, but lost the position seven months later.
