The Belarusian Health Ministry has updated information on the coronavirus situation in the country.

To date, the ministry has registered the total of 19,255 persons infected with the novel coronavirus, which is about 8.7% of the tests taken.

In the past 24 hours, 905 new cases have been reported in Belarus.

“For the entire period of the spread of the infection in the country, 112 patients who were previously tested positive for the coronavirus have died; they had chronic and co-existing illnesses,” the Health Ministry said on Telegram.

On May 5, the Belarusian authorities confirmed 107 coronavirus deaths in the republic; thus, another five persons have passed away within the last day.

By the moment, around 220,000 tests for detecting the virus have been conducted in Belarus. 4,388 patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19 have already recovered.

Last Sunday, President Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that over 200 people in Belarusian hospitals were connected to mechanical lung ventilators due to ‘pneumonia’.
