Coordinating council to attempt official state registration

The Coordination Council for the Settlement of the Political Crisis (CC) may in the near future attempt to get officially registered in Belarus, BelaPAN reports the statement by the press secretary of the Council Anton Radnyankou.

Radnyankou is in exile and made a statement during a recent video stream.

“Discussions inside the CC about official registration or filing documents for registration have been going on since the very moment of the Council’s creation. In the near future we will try, make another attempt to register. Here the question lies in the right form: will it be a public association or institution. But we naturally want to work in the legal field,” Radnyankou said.

According to him, the desire to work in the country legally among the members of the Presidium of the CC has always been there, but the authorities are afraid of this, which is why criminal cases were opened.

The General Prosecutor’s Office opened criminal cases “on the facts of the creation of an extremist formation and its leadership, financing of its activities in order to seize state power in an unconstitutional way.” The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office released information about this on December 21.

The message listed the persons against whom criminal cases were initiated on these charges – Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya and members of the Presidium of the Coordination Council Maryia Kalesnikava, Maksim Znak, Pavel Latushka, Volha Kavalkova, Syarhei Dyleuski.
