On the birthday of Vladimir Ilyich, the Lenin Square in Hrodna is empty. There are neither flags, nor columns from enterprises, nor youth organizations with balloons and flowers. But there are 25 people of retirement age at the monument to the leader and two policemen in civilian clothes on a bench 200 meters from the venue of the rally.

We ask a gray-haired woman with flowers, who introduced herself as Alla, what this day means to her:

“It is very important! This is the day of unification of all! It is the Communist Day! We lived our whole lives according to these maxims. We want it to continue. Like the God’s canons, there are the maxims of the communist rule! ”

The communists are already gathering at the pedestal, the rally begins. A woman of about 60 years old is asking forgiveness of those who have gathered for the small number of people present at the rally. She says the young people did not come because it is a working day, but on the anniversary of the October Revolution there will definitely be more. Then she gives floor to Vladimir Yegorychev, a professor at the Moscow State University:

“So far, discussions about Lenin have not subsided,” says Yegorychev. – In our information age, when everything is permitted, the political pygmies have begun to disfigure Lenin’s ideas without proof. But what have they achieved, denigrating Lenin? Iosif Vissarionovich won the war in 10 years and raised the country!”

Then the speaker shifts to modern realities, for some reason he criticizes the Russian Prime Minister Medvedev, reminds that Marx is republished in Europe, recommends to those present the Lenin’s article on the united states of Europe. Modern politicians, Yegorychev says, lack political will.”

“Even the “Levada Center” testified that the name of Russia is Lenin and Stalin,” continues Yegorychум. – Someone there wanted it to be Ivan the Terrible — but this is not it. All hate and blackness pass. But for this to happen, my friends, we must fight for Lenin’s postulates. Lenin’s legacy did not die! But his misinterpretation did perish. May the 149th anniversary of the birth of the great Lenin live! Hooray!”.

The rally is over, the secretary of the party organization calls on those present to give back red scarves.

We are following the man in a jacket, decorated with medals. He is going to an old car, pasted with portraits of Stalin and Zhukov, St. George ribbons and other symbolism.

“I love Russian symbolism!” says the man, whose name is Vladimir Kovalev. – And I respect the heroes! Here are Stalin and Zhukov — I love them. Our family was under the yoke. When the Germans retreated in 1944, the Germans wanted to take blood from the children … And the Soviet troops surrounded us and liberated us! ”

The man says that his wife is the sister of the hero of the USSR, and he has been driving a car pasted over with symbols for four years. He said that one day his neighbor became angry over the symbolism on the car, but the pensioner did not lose his head and called him a “Pole” — he took on an ideological enemy.

“You should have watched Kiselev’sprogram yesterday,” continues the pensioner. He won first place! Eighty-seven percent are in favor of modern Stalin — just like that! Russia and Belarus should have united long ago. Russia is most important. Only Moscow! We are nobody!

The pensioner thanked the journalists for their attention and added that he does not drink, that’s why he did not go with the rest of the party members, but went home.
