Collapsed roof in St. Petersburg leaves worker dead


A stadium roof has collapsed in St. Petersburg during the dismantling of the local sports complex. The Fontanka publication was broadcasting the dismantling work and showed the tragedy as it was unraveling.

According to the publication, one of the workers could not be reached. Later, the search and rescue service found the body of a worker who died in the collapse of the roof. According to Fontanka, he was a 29-year-old welder from Petrozavodsk.

The footage taken by Fontanka shows one of the workers coming out of the construction cradle on the roof of the complex. During the collapse of the roof, he did not have time to climb back.

The company SKA-Arena plans to build a new ice arena on the territory of SKK Petersburg. The experts had deemed the condition of the current building’s roof as unsafe and decided to dismantle it.
