The volume of transit along the New Silk Road is growing.
In 2017 there was a 30% increase in transit by rail. This was due to the growth of traffic from China to Europe along the New Silk Road, which has been in operation since 2015.
The transport route passes through Kazakhstan, the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia, Belarus, Poland, and Germany. Trains run along this route for 15 days — twice as fast as by sea through the Suez Canal.
In a conversation with the “BelTA” agency, Brest customs says that automobile transit also grew by almost 20%. Last year, customs officials issued more than 450,000 permits for customs transit of goods.
“Electronic technologies can significantly reduce the time for customs formalities,” customs officials say. – Submission of electronic preliminary information by the carrier significantly reduces the time of transportation at the checkpoints”.
Among the automobile customs clearance points, the most loaded is Kazlovichy, which are crossed by two thousand trucks every day.
Last year in Kazlovichy, in order to shorten the time of the border clearance, some functions of border guards were given to the customs officers. The experiment turned out to be successful — starting from next year, the customs inspectors will do so on an ongoing basis.
