BSU has new rector previously mixed in scandal

On September 28, Lukashenka appointed four new rectors: in BSU, Belarusian National Technical University, Mahiliou State University and Mahiliou Food University.

The position of BSU rector was given to the Doctor of Education Andrey Karol, press service of the head of state reports.

“It was he who expelled historians from university, in particular – Professor Vyachaslau Shved. While the Qualification Commission recommended the extension of his contract, the university council somehow voted against. When the professor asked to see the results of the vote, Mr Karol refused to do so. He is a servant of the regime,” says historian Ales Krautsevich, first vice-rector of the University of Hrodna (in 1994-1995).

Lukashenka has also appointed rector Dzyanis Duka (Mahiliou University), Maksim Kirkara (Mahiliou Food University) and Syarhei Kharytonchyk (Belarusian National Technical University). The latter has been managing the National Technical University academic work.
