Mass events will not take place in Brest Fortress on June 22nd this year. Due to the coronavirus, the city authorities have canceled the historical reenactment of the June 22nd, 1941 events, Interfax reports.
Previously, Brest authorities have canceled the mass events on May 9th. Now, due to the threat of the coronavirus, the events on the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War have been canceled.
“Events in Brest Fortress, which include a large-scale reenactment of the June 22nd, 1941 and a requiem rally, involves the participation of a huge number of people, including guests from other countries. Given the epidemiological situation, this year mass events will not be held,” said the Chairman of Brest City Executive Committee Alyaksandr Rahachuk.
At the same time, the city authorities stressed that there’s no ban on individual visits to the fortress.
Given the epidemiological situation, the Polatsk and Navapolatsk authorities have canceled the traditional celebration of the City Day.
