Blast at Navapolatsk-based Polymir chemical plant (video)


The massive emission of ethylene resulted in an explosion and a large fire at Polymir chemical plant in the Belarusian town of Navapolatsk, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

The incident led to stopping the production process in shop floor No 105.

The explosion was so intense that tiles and plaster crumbled away inside the building which is located 100 meters from the scene, a local resident said on web.

Now the specialists are trying to find out why the regulating valve had malfunctioned, the ministry’s website says. No one was killed or injured in the incident.
