Big prize on horizon? Belarus pole dancer wins over Russian judges’ hearts

The girl was dancing to How Are You, the Belarusian-language song by Palina Respublika.

“My trainee introduced me to this song. I simply fell in love with it and thought that it would be the best piece of music to present my country with, because it is about our native land. Our hearts are always with our country. I decided that vyshyvanka [Belarusian embroidered shirt] would help me express all my emotions in the dance and make good on my image. I love the Belarusian culture,” Katsyaryna told belsat.eu.

Before her performance, the host asked the Belarusian whether she would dance something in the Russian folk style, but the dancer stressed she came from Minsk.

“I do not know whether I would make it past the audition. I was so nervous that I could not feel my arms and legs,” she said.
