Belsat online audience up 100% or more in 2017

In 2017, the number of unique visitors to our website increased by 90%, the number of Youtube subscribers by 130%, Facebook friends by 100%.

In January 2016, the audience of all our accounts in social networks was about 1.5 million. In December 2017, our post were monthly seen by about 5 million users.

Facebook

In the last two years, the number of our Facebook page subscribers almost doubled: in January 2016 we were followed by around 23,500 people, at the end of 2017 we were ‘liked’ by the 45,000th user.

Approximately 2.5 million people came to our site from social networks in 2017. In percentage terms, this is the best result among Belarusian media outlets.

Experts note that that it is the activity around the Facebook posts that is most revealing, not the number of subscribers or views. Our posts do not just catch people’s eye, they are actively liked and shared, they get comments. According to these figures, our Facebook account ranked third among all Belarusian media in 2017.

In 2017, we began to make videos specifically for Facebook — short ones and videos with subtitles (for those who, for whatever reason, cannot turn on the sound). We also made videos only covering the key events. Special attention was paid to the videostreams of protests in Belarus and abroad: our correspondents steamed videos of protests of ‘social parasites’ in all regions of the country, the Freedom Day in Minsk and the referendum in Catalonia.

On average, our every Facebook video gets up to 200 to 600 thousand views.

Over the past nine months, our Facebook videos were viewed 8.3 million times.

YouTube

We also stream on our Youtube channel. The most popular video from the Freedom Day was viewed by at 350,000 people.

The number of subscribers reached almost 50 thousand on New Year’s Eve (it was 21,000 in 2016).

The year before, our videos were viewed 6,756,000 times, while in 2017 the number was more than 30 million.

In 2017, we launched a Russian-language project called “Just Like That”. It is watched in virtually every country of the former USSR. We made a separate Youtube channel for it and are now actively developing it.

Our channel is the most popular one among the Belarusian media.

And others

The number of unique visitors of the BELSAT.EU page increased by 90% over the year.
