BelNPP to hold nuclear emergency drills in October

The drills to test external and internal emergency scenarios at the BelNPP are planned for October 2019, BelTA reports.

“A comprehensive drill involving the internal emergency plan of the Belarusian NPP was held in October 2018. Practical testing of the external and internal emergency plans of BelNPP is also scheduled for October 2019,” notes the review of nuclear and radiation safety in Belarus for 2018 prepared by the State Nuclear Supervision.

The external plan (protective measures in the event of a radiation accident at a nuclear power plant) was approved in March 2018, while the internal plan (measures to protect personnel in the event of an accident at a nuclear power plant) was approved in May 2018.
