Belarusians in Switzerland collecting money for Kosciuszko monument

They want to set up a two-meter bronze sculpture in Solothurn, where the famous rebel died.

The project cost is approximately 9,000 USD. According to the Association of Belarusians in Switzerland, it includes the material, the work of the sculptor, transportation and preparation of supporting documents, the establishment of the statue as well as the opening cost.

The grand opening of the monument will take place on October 15, 2017, on the day of the 200-year anniversary of Kosciuszko’s death. Next to the monument will be installed information boards in Belarusian, German and Polish.

“Puzzle in this project is almost there: we have a permission for the monument from the city mayor, a lot has been done on the layout and concept. It would be a pity if a monument cannot be erected due to lack of funds. I’m sure it may one day appear, but it will be done not by the Belarusians but our neighbors the Poles or Americans,” chairman of the Belarusian Association in Switzerland Ales Sapieha told belsat.eu.

You can make a donation for the monument to Tadeusz Kosciuszko using the bank info of the Association of Belarusians in Switzerland, or via the crowdfunding platform talaka.by.
