Belarusian paratroopers set new record with five-pointed star

Thirty paratroopers made a large five-pointed star at an altitude of 5 km setting a new national record in Belarus.

New record in Belarus parachute group acrobatics in the “Large formation” class was set by the Minsk flying society of the Voluntary Society for Assistance to Army, Air Force and Navy (DOSAAF) on July 31 at the Air Sports “Praneba 2016” festival.

The new record involved 30 people. They reached a height of 5 thousand meters using Mi-26, the largest helicopter in the world.

Only the third attempt (out of five) was a success.

The previous record of 20 people was established in 2014, said Anton Bystrou, General Secretary of the Belarusian Federation, who participated in the construction of the figure. According to him, there are examples in the world, when the figure was of 100 or more people, but today’s figure for Belarus is a symbol of growth.
