Belarusians attempt to smuggle 50K cigarette packs to Poland


Polish customs officers found the illegal goods of the Hrodna production in sacks with barbeque charcoal during X-ray scan. The incident happened at the Kuznitsy border crossing. The lorry was driven by a 34-year-old Belarusian man.

Unloading and check of all bags (there were 3,650) took almost two days. The smuggling load is estimated at nore than 160K dollars. The load and the vehicle were detained, the driver was questioned. Investigation is currently underway.

This is the second attempt in recent years to smuggle cigarettes into Poland in a similar way. The previous case was recorded in July. Then the Polish customs officers found 67,500 packs of cigarettes in bags of coal.
