Belarusians want state TV to lose right to Eurovision

The Belarusian Foundation for Cultural Solidarity has launched a campaign aimed at expelling Belteleradiocompany from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

A letter proposing to expel Belteleradiocompany (BT) from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and deprive the state TV channel of the right to broadcast and participate in “Eurovision” was sent to the office of the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva.

The Belarusian Foundation for Cultural Solidarity believes that BT has no right to participate in the music contest. Last year, the band VAL won the national qualifying round. But after the elections the musicians criticized the state policy in the field of culture and forcing to perform at concerts, for which BT accused the musicians of “lack of conscience”.
