Belarusian writer Filipenka short-listed for "Big Book" prize


In total, 11 writers will compete for victory there: Ludmila Ulitskaya, Sergei Salaukh, Alexei Ivanov and others. The names of the three award finalists will be announced at a special ceremony in December.

Alyaksandr Filipenka participated in the contest with his third novel “Harassment”. In the new book, the author describes the persecution of independent journalists in Russia. Presentation of the book has already taken place in Belarus and Russia.

Writer and journalist, winner of the 2014 “Russian Award” Filipenka has worked on the “First Channel,” including writing scripts for “Prozhektorperiskhilton,” “Multlichnosti,” “YesterdayLive”. He is currently working at the “Rain” TV channel, writes for “Snob” and “GQ” magazines. One of his major projects is the TV show “Evening Gerasimets”.

The “Big Book” National Prize was founded in 2005 byt he the Center for National Literature Support. Its prize pool is the largest among Russian and CIS literary awards. The cash equivalent of the first prize is 3 million rubles (45 thousand dollars), the second – 1.5 million rubles, and the third – 1 million rubles.
