Sociologists: 8-10% of Belarusians seeking work abroad


Results of the study about the future of the Belarusian labor market has been published in the latest issue of “Finance, Accounting, Audit”. The article offers disappointing figures and forecasts.

The author refers to the official statistics, which implies that almost 1 in 10 Belarusians (8-10%) is looking for a job abroad.

“If their efforts are successful (and the demand is large enough), our economy will face serious challenges. Majority of those wishing to work abroad (75%) are men. As a result, the republic may face negative demographic consequences of imbalanced population in terms of sex, which prevents the formation of families and has a negative impact on the reproduction of the population,” the author writes.

The article also notes that the Belarusians aree more likely to look for a job in the West, as wages in Russia have dramatically decreased.
