Belarusian Foreign Ministry concerned with 'organized criminal activity' coming from Poland

On November 9, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry held a meeting with Charge d’Affaires of the Polish Embassy in Belarus Marcin Wojciechowski, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reports.

During the meeting at the Foreign Ministry, issues of bilateral international agreements were discussed, in particular, in the field of combating crime.

“The Belarusian side expressed concern over the confirmed and documented facts of organized criminal activity from the territory of Poland, causing harm to the life and health of Belarusian citizens, public safety, state and private property in the Republic of Belarus. The Polish side received a clear call to adhere to its international obligations and take measures to suppress criminal activity on its territory,” the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Earlier, in September, Alyaksandr Lukashenka accused Poland and four other states of allegedly trying to organize a “color revolution” in Belarus.

In early October, the official Minsk recalled its ambassadors to Poland and Lithuania for consultations and suggested that the ambassadors of these countries do the same. Also, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry called on these countries to reduce the composition of their diplomatic missions (for Poland – from 50 to 18 people). On October 5, Polish Ambassador Artur Michalski left Belarus.
