Belarusian criminal songs performer gives concert for Donetsk separatists

In December, 2014 Viktar Kalina, a Belarusian performer of ‘Russian chanson’, i.e. songs based on the themes of the urban underclass and the criminal underworld, visited the unrecognised Donetsk people’s republic and gave a concert.

On his website there are photos of him posing with a gun, waving a DPR flag, visiting graves of separatists.

After his concert the singer stated his willingness to live in the ‘Russian world’, euroradio.fm reports. He also signalled his intention to go on a concert tour of Russia to raise funds for the DPR.

Viktar Kalina (real name Viktar Milko) grew up in the Belarusian town of Barysau but now his professional activity is closely linked to Russia. He wrote 3 books and had 21 music videos made. Except for composing songs, the musician used to practise alternative medicine, parapsychology and action yoga. In 2006 he was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonmen for large-scale fraud but was amnestied.
