Belarusian civil servants banned from visiting certain websites

Employees of the National Park “Belavezhskaya Pushcha” have been forbidden to “use in their economic activity” the websites TUT.BY and Onliner.by, TUT.by has learnt.

According to the document “On the Prohibition of Visiting Internet Portals”, employees of the National Park are to “under personal responsibility” exclude the use of the TUT.by and Onliner.by websites from their “economic activities”. Employees are forbidden not only to visit these Internet portals, but even their subdomains from any digital devices and networks belonging to the park. Technicians and administrators must inspect employees’ computers on a random basis every day “for visits” to prohibited sites.

The park’s administration, which reports to the Office of the President, explains the ban by the need “to streamline the use of the national segment of the Internet”.

Telegram channels report that a similar ban has been introduced for a number of other enterprises in Belarus.

“Brestenergo has now included Internet filters prohibiting the use of youtube, onliner, tut.by, some social networks, etc. in the corporate network,” reports Telegram-channel “Maya kraina Belarus”.
