Belarusian-born Daesh militants behind attacks in Brussels – pro-Kremlin media

Russia informed the Belgian authorities of three Daesh militants preparing attacks in Brussels, pro-Kremlin media outlet Lifenews reports with reference to a source in the country’s secret services.

According to the news site, the Belarusian-born Dovbash brothers, Ivan and Alexei, left for Belgium in late February. They were accompanied by some Marat Yunusov whom the online resource calls the brothers’ compatriot.

“It is known that 27-year-old Alexei was first who converted to Islam and began to communicate with the radicals. Being under the influence of his elder brother, 23-year-old Ivan also became interested in radical movements,” LifeNews quotes their source as saying.

According to the information provided, the both joined the squad of terrorists, had a military training and then headed for the EU.

The Belarusian authorities was not slow to respond to the allegation. The Dovbash brothers do come from Belarus, Dzmitry Pabyarzhyn, spokesman for the Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB), said.

“They are natives of Belarus. The KGB is aware of their existence, the Committee is carrying out checks on their participation in terrorist activity,” the press officer stated. At the same time, Pabyarzhyn failed to comment on their implication in today’s terrorist attacks in Brussels.

The Belgian side has not confirmed the information, neither have Russian officials.
