Belarusian border guards detained illegal migrants from India

On the night of July 20, Belarusian border guards working at the Belarusian-Polish border in the Hrodna region detained three illegal immigrants from India and the organizers of their crossing.

According to the press service of the State Border Committee, citizens of India arrived in Minsk National Airport from Delhi. With the help of a private carrier, they tried to get to Poland, and then into France.

Now the detained illegal immigrants are facing deportation and a fine of up to 100 basic units (more than 1,180 dollars). Law enforcers are trying to find out whether the Indians had violated any other Belarusian laws.

In accordance with Article 371-1 of the Criminal Code, the organizers of the illegal transfer can be imprisoned for up to seven years with or without confiscation of property.

According to the Belarusian border guards, this is the second time they have closed a channel of illegal migration from India.
