Belarusian Academy of Sciences to use NPP energy for mining

The United Institute of Informatics of the National Academy of Sciences has unveiled its plans about mining.

According to the information from the department, the institute “studies the issue” of the possible use of energy from Belarusian NPP for the crypto-currency mining. This is stated in the response from the Academy of Sciences, which was published by journalist Yauhen Sudzilouski.

“Crypto currency mining requires the use of significant computing resources and is fraught with major energy costs. In particular, the issues of possible use of electric power for this purpose, which will be developed at the Belarusian nuclear power plant, are currently under consideration,” said the statement.

The document was signed by Alyaksandrr Tuzikau, the Director General of the United Institute of Informatics of the National Academy of Sciences .
