Belarusfilm to start making Indian cinema


The first Indian movie will be shot in Belarus, the Honorary Consul of Belarus in Mumbai Dr. Lalit Chokhani reported on May 15 at a meeting with Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus.

“We hope that this project will become a kind of engine for the further partnership of the two countries in the film industry,” the honorary consul said, the Council of the Republic reports.

They also discussed the implementation of the project involving a scientific and technological center for the production of medicines in Minsk on the basis of the Akadempharm enterprise of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, together with the Indian company Cipla.

It is planned to produce drugs for the treatment of HIV infection, hepatitis B and hepatitis C, as well as Alzheimer’s disease and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Cipla has already invested $ 1 million in the project. The total investment is estimated at $ 10 million.

A delegation of the Cipla company headed by Chairman of the Board Yusuf Hamid is scheduled to visit Minsk in summer.

The possibility of cooperation of one of the Indian companies with the Vorsha Flax Factory is also being studied.
