Belarus wins its first gold and third silver at Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang


Sviatlana Sakhanenka, a Navapolatsk girl, has won the highest award for our country in a 15 km free style ski race in category B2 for athletes with visual impairments.

At the finish line, the Belarusian had the time of 49 minutes and 11.7 seconds.

For the girl this is the second medal at the current Paralympic Games. Previously, she won bronze in biathlon, becoming the third in a 6km sprint.

The silver award for Belarus was won by Yury Holub in the 20 km ski race in the B3 category for the athletes with visual impairments.

This is his second silver at these Games. Previously, he won the same award in biathlon, becoming the second in the 7.5 km sprint.

In total, Belarusian Paralympic athletes currently have six medals (1 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze medals) and the 9th place in the medal ranking.
