Belarus presiding in CSTO

Belarus received chairmanship of the Collective Security Organization (CSTO) from Armenia.

At the final press briefing, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan wished the head of Belarus success during the presidency of the organization.

On October 14, Yerevan hosted a meeting of the CSTO Rada in the extended format.

“We noted that nobody wants to recognize the CSTO, especially NATO. I listened to this talk and thought: if we ask them for recognition, they will never do it. We need to get them to recognize our organization,” Belarus President said during the meeting.

“It is necessary to formulate proper priorities, so that our organization would get to a fairly serious level, so that it is not feared but respected, and we will not persuade anybody to recognize us,” said Lukashenka.
